# Use Reynforce in ChatGPT

**A ChatGPT workspace admin adds your Reynforce workspace's address as a custom
app, and then you sign in with your work account.** ChatGPT can then search
your register, and it may ask you to confirm before a change.

> **Not tried yet.** Nobody has connected ChatGPT to Reynforce. The same
> sign-in problem that stopped Claude on 20 October 2026 applies here, and its
> fix is waiting to go out. Until somebody has done it end to end, treat every
> step below as untested.

## What you need first

- **A Reynforce workspace**, and to be a member of it. Your workspace's address
is on your workspace's **Settings** page, under *Use it from Claude*. The same
address works for any MCP client. It looks like
  `https://app.reynforce.com/t/<your workspace>/mcp`.
- **A ChatGPT plan that can add a custom MCP app with write actions.**
OpenAI's help page says that is in beta for **Business, Enterprise and Edu**.
On **Pro** an app can only read, so Reynforce's search would work and the
tools that record or change something would not.
- **ChatGPT on the web.** OpenAI says these apps are not available on mobile.

## Add it (a workspace admin)

1. Turn on developer mode: **Workspace Settings > Permissions & Roles >
Connected Data**, then turn on **Create custom MCP connectors**.
2. Go to **Workspace settings > Apps** and click **Create**.
3. Enter a name (*Reynforce*) and your workspace's address as the server.
4. Choose OAuth for authentication, and sign in with your work account when
   asked.
5. Click **Scan Tools** and wait. A signed-in member should see up to seven
   tools.
6. Click **Create**. The app is now a draft under **Apps > Drafts**.
7. Try it in a chat (below). When it works, go to **Apps > Drafts** and click
**Publish** so the rest of your workspace can use it.

On Enterprise and Edu, **Configure Actions** in the publish step chooses which
tools are allowed. OpenAI says new actions are off by default, so switch on the
ones you want.

## Use it in a chat

Open a new chat and pick Reynforce from the tools menu, or mention it by name.
**ChatGPT applies an app to one message at a time**, so mention it again when a
follow-up needs the register. Then ask in plain words:

- *"Search the register for what we say about data residency."*
- *"Check whether I can promise this customer a go-live date of 1 December."*

## What each tool does

| Tool | What it does | Changes anything? |
|---|---|---|
| Search the register | Finds lines your company stands behind, each with its owner, its last check and whether it may be used | No |
| Check an action against the mandate | Asks whether an action is allowed, and writes the check down | Adds a record only |
| Propose claims | Turns a document into proposed lines for a person to accept | Adds proposals only |
| Set a claim's owner | Names who stands behind a line | Yes |
| Accept one claim | Accepts a single proposed line | Yes |
| Confirm a claim is still true | Marks a line as checked today | Yes |
| Contest a claim | Says a line is wrong, so no agent may use it until it is settled | Yes |

Every tool tells ChatGPT whether it only reads, whether it changes something a
person relies on, and that it touches nothing outside your own register.
**OpenAI says ChatGPT may ask you to confirm a change**, depending on the
app's permissions and the action. We have not seen which of the four it asks
about, so read the confirmation before you approve one.

## If it does not work

| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The sign-in step fails before a Reynforce page appears | Our sign-in could not be found. This is ours | Tell us at support@reynforce.com |
| Scan Tools finds nothing after you signed in | Most often, the account you signed in with is not a member of this workspace | Check you used your work account, then ask whoever runs your workspace to add you |
| A tool worked yesterday and errors today | OpenAI says an approved app uses a frozen copy of its tools until an admin refreshes them | An admin refreshes the app's actions |
| You keep being asked to sign in again | OpenAI says access can expire for some sign-ins | Sign in again. Tell us if it happens daily |

## What ChatGPT sends us

Only what each tool needs: your search words, the action you describe, and the
line you act on. Not your conversation. [What we hold](trust.html) has the full
account.

OpenAI's steps are from its help page
[*Developer mode and MCP apps in ChatGPT*](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/12584461-developer-mode-and-mcp-apps-in-chatgpt),
read on 20 October 2026. It does not name every field in the form, so a label
here may differ from what you see. That page is the one to trust.
