The questions people arrive with

How do I stop my AI SDR quoting the wrong price?

Last updated

In short

Keep every price in one place, with a person's name and a "last checked" date on each one, and make the agent look there before it quotes. A better prompt won't fix it, because the prompt is often where the old price came from.

An AI SDR is an agent that does early sales work for you, like first emails and follow-ups. When it quotes a price, the buyer takes that price as your offer.

This page is for prices that already go out wrong. Setting prices up for a new agent? Read How do I give an AI SDR our prices safely?

Why does it quote the wrong price?

A price in a prompt, a slide deck or a help page has no date on it. So the agent can't tell a price someone checked on Tuesday from one that was right before your last price change. Both look true to it. It quotes both with the same confidence.

Here is what teams usually try, and why it stops working.

what people trywhy it stops working
paste the price list into the promptprices change and nobody goes back to update the prompt
let it search your help pagesit picks the closest match, and an old pricing page looks just like a new one
a filter that checks the wording£99 a month is a polite sentence. The filter can't see that it's the wrong number
tell it to be carefulit has nothing to check against, so being careful doesn't help

What should I do?

  1. Write each price down on its own. Give each price its own line. If you keep one big price document, it goes out of date as a whole, and nobody can see which number is wrong.
  2. Put a person's name on each price, and the date they will check it again.
  3. Make the agent look before it quotes. If a price is past its check date, or nobody owns it, the agent tells the buyer it will confirm the price and come back. The email is slower. It is also right.
  4. Keep a copy of every price the agent quoted. If a buyer says you told us £X in January, you can find the answer in a minute. You won't have to dig through old emails.

You can do steps 1 and 2 in a spreadsheet today. You don't need to buy anything.

How Reynforce helps

Reynforce keeps your prices in Facts. Each one has an owner and a "last checked" date. Before the agent quotes a price, it asks Reynforce. The answer is allowed, ask first or not allowed, and it names the fact the answer was based on. Every check shows up in Activity, so you can see what was quoted and when.

Connecting an agent takes a few steps. If a price needs a person to look at it, the request reaches them by email, Slack or text.

When Reynforce is the wrong choice

What it costs

£99 per agent a month for your first 10 agents. After that it's £79 for each agent, up to 49. If you pay for a year at once, you get two months free. If you'd like us to do the setup and sign-off with you, that starts at £2,500, paid once, and the price depends on the agent's job. Pricing has the rest.
