# Reynforce and Galileo Agent Control

**Galileo's Agent Control is a general engine for enforcing whatever rules
you write on AI agents. Reynforce is the ready-made set of rules for sales
and support agents, plus the facts those rules need and a record of every
promise.**

## The problem

> **Example: a rule needs a fact.** You want a simple rule: "Never quote a
> discount above what the deal desk allows." An engine can enforce that
> rule. But it has to know what the deal desk allows today, who decided it,
> and when it was last checked. Somebody has to keep that.

An engine runs rules. Someone still has to decide the rules for sales agents,
and keep the facts they depend on up to date.

## What Agent Control does

Galileo describes Agent Control as "a control plane that establishes a new
standard for governing agent behavior". It's open source, "Released under the
Apache 2.0 license."

Developers place hooks in an agent. Each check returns "a decision: deny,
steer, warn, log, or allow". The rules live outside the agent's code, so they
can change without a release. In Galileo's words: "Developers own where to
place control hooks. Policy teams decide what those hooks enforce."

Galileo is now part of Cisco, which announced it had completed the
acquisition in May 2026.

## What Reynforce does

1. **A list of what's true about your company.** Prices, discount limits,
plan details, certifications. Every line has a named owner and the date
   someone last checked it.
2. **Rules for each agent, already written for sales and support.** What it
may promise on its own, what needs a person first, and what it may never
say: a date nothing is in place to keep, its personal word, or anything
that lets a buyer believe something nobody said.
3. **A record of every promise.** What was said, to whom, what it relied on,
and whether it was allowed. Kept so nobody can edit it.

> **Example: the 20% discount.** Your agent wants to offer 20% off. Your rules
> say anything over 15% needs the deal desk. Reynforce tells the agent to ask
> first, and the request is on the record either way.

## Side by side

| | Agent Control | Reynforce |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A general engine for rules on any agent | Rules for sales and support agents, ready to use |
| What you have to supply | The rules, and whatever checks each step | Your list of what's true, and who owns each line |
| What a check returns | Deny, steer, warn, log or allow | Yes, no, or ask a person first |
| What you have afterwards | Decisions and logs | A record of every promise made in your name |
| Who it's built for | Developers and policy teams | The head of sales or RevOps |

## Our view

**The two checks have nearly the same shape**: ask before a step, get a
decision back, keep the rules outside the agent. That's a good sign for
both.

The difference is what's inside. Agent Control is the engine and leaves the
policy to you. Reynforce is the policy for go-to-market agents, with the facts
it needs and owners attached. If you have an engineering team building
controls for every kind of agent, Agent Control gives them the machinery. If
you need your sales agents under control this month, start with Reynforce.

Agent Control lets you plug in your own checks, and Reynforce answers a
yes-or-no question before a step. So the two could sit together, with
Reynforce as one of the checks.

> **The short version:** Agent Control is how you enforce rules. Reynforce
> is which rules, and the facts behind them.
