# Referrals — one free month each side

**Refer a company that ends up paying, and you both get a free month.** Not a
discount code and not a scheme with tiers: one month, both sides, once per
company referred.

## How the month is worked out

**It is your plan price, and theirs is theirs.** A free month is two different
amounts of money depending on who redeemed it — £99 for each agent, so a company
with three agents gets three times what a company with one does — and a single
figure would quietly favour one of you. You get a month of what you pay; they get a month of what they pay.

## When it lands

**When the company you referred is paying**, and not before.

| | |
|---|---|
| **they are still on a trial** | the credit waits. A free month on a free thing reads as a bug to you and as fraud in our numbers |
| **they never provision a workspace** | there is no month to make free, so nothing happens |
| **they cancel before paying** | nothing happens |

**Waiting is not refusing.** If a referral is held because the company is still
trialling, it stays held and lands when they start paying — the answer is *not
yet*, which is a different answer from *no*.

## What it will not do

**A referral is a billing change and nothing else.** It does not widen what any
of your agents may promise, grant a permission, accept a claim in your register,
or raise a limit. That is an import boundary in the code rather than a policy we
remember: nothing in the referrals module can reach a mandate or a register.

**And it is not a reason to recommend us.** If Reynforce is not the right thing
for the company you have in mind, a free month is a bad reason to send them —
you would be spending their time and your own credibility on a month's fee.

## Four things we will refuse, and why we say so here

| | |
|---|---|
| **the same company on both sides** | the cheapest fraud there is, and the one everybody tries first |
| **a code used twice for one company** | a referral code is not a coupon |
| **a company with no workspace** | nothing to credit |
| **a company whose workspace has ended** | the same |

**None of these is a judgement about you.** They are the four states where there
is no month to give, and saying them on this page is cheaper than saying them in
a reply three weeks later.

## If you are a consultant rather than a customer

**A referral is a free month on your own subscription, so it is worth nothing
to somebody who is not paying for one.** That is not a loophole to close — it
is what a referral *is*, and pretending otherwise would be a credit nobody
could spend.

So if you advise companies rather than buy from us, the two honest options are
these, and neither is this page:

| | |
|---|---|
| **you have a workspace of your own** | then a referral behaves exactly as above: a free month on yours, a free month on theirs. A consultant who uses Reynforce for their own claims is a customer, and this is their page too |
| **you do not** | then say so when you introduce somebody, and we will talk about what makes sense. **There is no standing arrangement to point you at**, because there is nobody it has been agreed with — and a page describing one would be a term you would be right to quote back |

**If you build and run agents for clients rather than advising on them**, that
is a different thing again and it has its own page:
[Reynforce for GTM agencies](/partners.html).

## How to refer somebody

**There is no form yet.** [Email us](mailto:callum@reynforce.com?subject=Reynforce%20referral)
with the company's name and we will send you a code for them to use at sign-up.

**That is the honest shape rather than a placeholder.** The arithmetic and the
refusals are built and tested; what is not built is Stripe applying the credit,
because nothing here has yet called Stripe and an adapter written from their
documentation would be a correct-looking one that has never met its service.
Until it has, a person applies the month.
