# How do I give an AI SDR our pricing safely?

**Give it each price as its own line, with an owner and a date it was last
checked, and let it quote only the ones that are current.** Discounts go in
as ranges it may propose inside, never as figures it may agree.

Pasting the price list into the agent's instructions is the usual first step,
and it fails the week the price changes. The instructions still say the old
figure, nothing marks it as old, and the agent quotes it with the same
confidence as on the day it was right.

## What to hand over

| give it | keep from it |
|---|---|
| list prices, one line each, with an owner | anything nobody has checked since the last price change |
| what each plan includes | figures that only one person knows are out of date |
| the range it may propose inside, and who owns that range | the authority to agree a number |
| what a variation depends on, in words | where your approval limits sit |

**The last row matters more than it looks.** *Anything above fifteen percent
needs the deal desk* is true, and it tells the buyer exactly where to push.
The agent should say it will confirm, not describe the process that confirms.

## When a price changes

The owner changes the line. Every agent reading it has the new figure at the
next question, and the old figure is still in the record against every
promise made while it was current — which is what you need when a buyer
quotes the old one back.

**When nobody has checked a line for longer than its owner said they would**,
it reads as overdue and stops being quotable. The agent says it will confirm
the figure, rather than repeating one nobody stands behind.

## What a price is not

A price is a line. **A discount is a permission**, and a different one: the
agent may suggest there is usually room, inside a range; agreeing a figure
stays with a person. And a discount, once given, does not come back — the
next buyer in that segment has heard what the last one got — so the drift in
what was offered is worth reading as a trend, by segment.

## What this does not do

It does not set your prices or approve a discount. It holds the figures, says
which are current, and records what was quoted against which line.
