Governance here means the rules and records that decide what an agent may do in your company's name.
This page compares the two ideas. For when your company needs governance, read Where does agent governance fit as a company moves to AI agents?
What each one looks at
| guardrails | governance | |
|---|---|---|
| looks at | one message from the AI | an agent over weeks and months |
| checks | the content: rudeness, leaks, off-topic replies, format | permission: what it may do, using what information, and who approved it |
| knows about your company | very little | who owns what, and what is true today |
| leaves behind | a pass or a block | a record you can show someone |
| usually owned by | the engineer who built the agent | the people who answer for what it promises |
Access control is a third thing, and it is often sold as governance. It decides which tools and data an agent can reach. An agent offering a discount nobody approved gets straight past it, because it is using a tool it is allowed to use, with a valid login. Only the offer is wrong.
What good governance looks like for a sales agent
- Rules you can read, each with a reason a person would accept.
- A named owner on everything the agent relies on. Then sign-off is shared between the people who can really answer for each part.
- Freedom that grows as the agent earns it, so you don't decide once and leave it there.
- A record, written as things happen.
- Someone reading that record.
Where Reynforce fits
Reynforce is the part of governance that covers promises. Its Rules, Facts and Activity pages cover the first four points above. Requests for approval go to the right person by email, Slack or text, which helps with the fifth.
When Reynforce is the wrong choice
- You need a wording guardrail or access control. Reynforce is neither.
- You want rules for AI tools your own staff use inside the company. Reynforce is built for agents that talk to customers.
What it costs
£99 a month for each agent for your first 10 agents. After that it is £79 a month for each agent, up to 49 agents. If you pay for a year at once, you get two months free. If you want us to set it up and get it signed off with you, that starts at £2,500, paid once, and the price depends on the agent's job. Pricing has the rest.
How Reynforce compares puts it side by side with the tools you may already have.
